Flaim has an opportunity for an ambitious and experienced tradesman with a technical bias at a client Data Centre in Middenmeer (Noord Holland).

Working with a team of highly qualified Technicians, the role offers huge development potential for any candidate wanting to work on the leading edge of the growing data centre industry. The CE General Operative will report to the TSM and will primarily work with the CE mechanical team. He will assist the mechanical team as required and will lead the AHU filter changes, roof equipment LOTO (Lock out Tag out) and coordinating between all contractors working on the mechanical AHU’s as directed by the TSM.

Minimum requirements 

  • A few years’ experience as a qualified tradesman (mechanic, plumber, carpenter etc.) working in the facilities/maintenance field.
  • Good working knowledge and/or experience of building services are an advantage.
  • A understanding of electrical awareness and hazards and the risks around electrical equipment is preferred.
  • Must be able to work on ladder or scaffold at various heights and within company H&S guidelines. Bending and lifting required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with the client, with team members and with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data centre mechanical systems.
  • Computer literate with the ability to compile and submit weekly, monthly and annual reports, and to monitor and trend operational and contractor characteristics (filter usage and change-out tracking, contractor PM duration time etc.).
  • Strong and committed team player with excellent communication skills. Previous experience of supervising or monitoring contractors and reporting to peers an advantage.
  • The ability to learn quickly and to gain maximum benefit from extensive training and development programs aimed at ensuring that any identified knowledge or experience deficiencies are addressed in the short term.


  • Perform routine inspection, maintenance and basic repairs/filter changes to building mechanical AHU’s systems under the approval and supervision of the CE mechanical team.
  • Work closely with the CE shift team in the FOC to maintain clear and courteous two-way radio communication at all times to ensure mechanical equipment is operated in a controlled and approved fashion.
  • Perform LoTo duties on any/all AHU equipment being worked on but only as approved and instructed by the FOC with all equipment startup/shut down operations remaining under the control of the FOC to ensure acceptable environmental conditions are monitored and maintained within the building.
  • Perform various types of general building maintenance and repairs where applicable and fall under Norland’s remit.
  • Work with the TSM and the CE mechanical team on follow up and close out on all issues raised by the CE Team through daily shift reports and CMMS open WO’s.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Supervisor and the ASM team when large filter deliveries are expected to site to ensure smooth passage through the loading bay areas without disrupting normal operational deliveries.
  • Report health and safety breaches through the ‘HAZARD’ process.Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the Data Centre domain.
